Style Advice of the Week: Tackling the T’s

Tackling the T’s

As the holiday season is in full swing, the T’s haunt us.

  1. Time

There is never enough time in a normal 24 hour period, but this time of year, good luck getting me to sit down for even a second.

  1. Travel

On the road, in the air, or on the tracks, traveling is always in sight for the holiday season. No matter how far or how wide, there are college kids looking home bound and family reunions beginning.

  1. Trends

Now, this is a big one as the season of parties begins because we all you know being best dressed is on everyone’s wish list.

To tackle these T’s, my style advice is just two little words:

CAPSULE CLOSET

Say whaaaaat?

A capsule closet is a small amount of clothing that never goes out of style and all the pieces of the group can be worn in different combinations.

Capsule closets are perfect to pack for traveling (especially those college kids who always wonder how a month’s worth of clothes with confine to a suitcase). Also, it will save you time when getting dressed and always ensure you are on trend.

Now, let’s get down to business on advice when it comes to creating your capsule closet.

Top tips to consider:

  1. Create a color palette. Try to work in as much neutrals as possible, but don’t be afraid to include color as well, be bold and be bright, but most importantly, be you.
  2. Textiles. Be conscious of the textures and patterns you work into this wardrobe. Make sure you add these fun little details because you want everyone to be living for your looks.
  3. Limit you garments. After research, I found the magic numbers are 9 tops, 5 bottoms, 1 to 2 dress/ jumpers, a few jackets/ cardigans, and minimal shoes. But, of course, always leave room for a wild card.

ULTIMATE GOAL: Invest in garments that can pair with anything.

** disclaimer: there are more combinations to this capsule closet than pictured**

And as soon as you know it, the T’s are tackled during the “most wonderful time of the year”.

And as always, check Urban Exchange to create your capsule closet or to add that one wild card, the finds are fantastic.

Happy holidays from my heart to yours. May this season be merry and bright for you and your loved ones.

Kisses,

Kenzi
